Mississippi Records is an independent record label that releases vital but often overlooked music made accessible through quality and affordable records and tapes, with respect for artists and their vision. We have released hundreds of records in our 22 years of operation.

About this Position
As Operations Coordinator, you will play a critical role in strengthening and maintaining the operational infrastructure and day-to-day functioning of our company. You will meaningfully contribute to the team’s success by managing daily tasks and leading the improvement and maintenance of our existing processes, tools, and practices.

Location
Remote. U.S. Eastern Standard Time preferred for timezone alignment, but not required.

Reporting and Team Structure
This role reports to the Label Director, and works closely with all members of our small team. 

Responsibilities
Lead the day-to-day operations of the company, including its administrative needs:

  • Manage email inbox by triaging and/or responding to customer questions and requests

  • Manage our CRM, ensuring clean customer data

  • Lead implementation of our work management software (Monday.com), ensuring timely completion of tasks related to our marketing calendar and release schedule

  • Support Label Director with day-to-day task management

  • Support our album releases through logistics and project management:

  • Manage inventory

  • Coordinate with shipping, distribution, and media production contacts

  • Manage the logistics of our subscription service

  • Manage the implementation of each album release’s project plan

  • Other operational duties as needed

Skills & Expectations
The ideal candidate will have:

  • Passion for our work excavating overlooked music and uplifting the artists who make it

  • 1-3 years of experience in business operations, including experience managing and maintaining tools, systems, and processes.

  • Experience with task management and CRM tools and software

  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously 

  • Ability to learn and onboard others to new products, systems and processes.

  • Change management skills, including the ability to guide and communicate process changes, and adjust plans and expectations as needed.

  • Ability to communicate thoughtfully and clearly across different audiences and formats.

  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail

Hours & Compensation
The base annual salary for this part-time position is $30K for 20 hours of work per week. We offer bonuses when sustainably possible, based on company financial performance.

Interview Process

  • If it seems like we’re a good fit for each other, we will reach out to schedule a 30 minute phone call to get to know you.

  • If we jointly decide to move forward, you can plan to attend a 45-60 min video interview with our Label Director with questions geared to understand your past experience and how you approach operations coordination.

  • The final stage would be to virtually meet 1-2 other members of the team for a 45-60 min video interview about your approach to collaboration and the role’s core responsibilities.

  • If you complete interviews, we will provide a decision or clear next step within 7 business days. All in, you can expect the time commitment for interviewing to be 2-3 hours of synchronous interaction, scheduled to fit your needs.
