Dillinger - Ready Natty Dreadie
The fantastic debut of Dillinger – a set that's a Studio One classic right from the start, and which really bridges generations in Jamaican music! Dillinger's dee jay skills are nice and sharp – very much the badass vibe that would make him a bit of a sideways influence on hip hop – working here with backings that mix some dubbier elements in the rhythms with these really fantastic saxophone moments, which cut an edge next to the vocals that's fantastic! There's great organ lines at times too – and the whole thing feels as if the best instrumentation from the earlier Studio One years has been brought forward to bubble up with a roots generation. Titles include "Natty Ten To One", "Babylon Bridge", "Dub Them Rasta", "Babylon Fever", "Ready Natty Dreadie", "Fountain On The Mountain", "Leave The Area", "Set Jah Jah Children Free", "Jamaican Collie", and "Killer Man Jaro
